The first sound expedition organized by the “Silno residence”
in collaboration with the “Weird Nights” project, took place in April 2023. The result of the trip was a music compilation, which included tracks from the expedition residents, made on the basis of or using the found sounds.

In the spring of 2023, 11 musicians came to Dagestan to hear him. The journey began in Derbent - the oldest city in Russia, five thousand years old. This is the best place to study the invisible boundaries: between tradition and innovation, natural and man-made, temporary and eternal.

The meeting of moving boundaries is manifested in the landscapes of the place, including and especially through the soundscape. Careful listening, aimed at distinguishing between sound events and noise, signals and marks, reveals the character of a place in a way different from that conveyed by vision.

The first stage of the expedition – engaged listening and recording – lasted five days, three of which were spent in the city and two more in the mountains. The second stage was the comprehension and processing of the material. By sampling and re-sampling recordings, the residents created their own tracks inspired by the nature and culture of Dagestan.

Первая звуковая экспедиция, организованная резиденцией «Сильно» совместно с проектом «Weird Nights», прошла в апреле 2023 года. Результатом поездки стала однодневная выставка на заводе «Дербент Вино» и музыкальный сборник, в который вошли треки участников экспедиции, сделанные на основе или с использованием найденных звуков.

Весной 2023 года 11 музыкантов приехали в Дагестан, чтобы услышать его. Путешествие началось в Дербенте – в древнейшем городе России, которому пять тысяч лет. Это лучшее место, чтобы изучать невидимые границы: между традицией и инновацией, природным и техногенным, временным и вечным.

Встреча подвижных границ проявляется в ландшафтах места, в том числе и особенно – через саундскейп. Внимательное слушание,
направленное на различение звуковых событий и шума, сигналов и меток, открывает характер места иным образом, отличным от того,
который сообщает зрение.

Первый этап экспедиции – вовлеченное слушание и запись –
длился пять дней, три из которых прошли в городе, и еще два –
в горах. Вторым этапом стало осмысление и переработка материала. Семплируя и ресемплируя записи, участники создали собственные треки, вдохновленные природой и культурой Дагестана.
